Volvo tractors to offer Meritor brake package

ArvinMeritor's Commercial Vehicle Systems business has announced that Volvo Trucks North America Inc will offer the Meritor MX500 long-life brake package as optional equipment on VN series linehaul tractors, beginning in August 2002. The MX500 brake package consists of 15" × 5" front and 16.5" × 8" rear Meritor Q Plus cam brakes with fully sealed camshaft housings and factory-installed automatic slack adjusters. It requires no lubrication or lining maintenance for three years/500,000 miles and is covered by a full warranty.
The MX500 is compatible with the Meritor Steel-Lite X30 brake drum, also available on Volvo VN series models.
The data code for the MX500 brake package is UL-G1. The data code for the X30 brake drums for the VN series models for front brakes is U3-C1 and rear brakes is U4-C1.
