Scania Wants More Eclipses

Oct 1, 2001 12:00 PM

IMPCO Technologies Inc has received an additional 100-system order from Scania Great Britain for the IMPCO Eclipse natural gas fuel system. The order is valued at more than $1 million.

The Eclipse is designed to optimize performance and fuel economy, while minimizing exhaust emissions. It features advanced electronic control for all major engine systems, and replaces the multiple electronic control units on natural gas trucks and buses, with a single electronic control unit. The Eclipse is used with high-output, lean-burn, and turbocharged natural gas engines. It controls air fuel ratio, ignition, turbocharger boost pressure, drive by wire, vehicle speed limiting, on-board diagnostics and knock control. Trucks equipped with the Eclipse system have achieved Euro-5 emission standards for 2007-2008.
