Power Cool comes in off-highway versions

Detroit Diesel Corp (DDC) has added three Power Cool off-highway coolants for sale in North America:

  • Off-Highway Coolant is a long-life, fully formulated ethylene glycol engine coolant that uses inorganic salts as the inhibitor formulation. It is recommended at a 50/50 mix with water and meets requirements of the TMC RP-329 Type A specification. The Supplemental Coolant Additive (SCA) is nitrite-based with low silicates. This coolant helps prevent inhibitor dropout, scale deposits, and gel problems. It is sold as a concentrate or 50/50 mix.

  • Off-Highway 6000 is a non-nitrite organic acid inhibitor for use in marine and other water-cooled systems only. It is silicate free, contains no nitrites, and has a recommended dosage at 7% to 8% by volume. It is recommended for use in marine applications that do not require freeze protection. This product is intended for applications in heavy-duty DDC, MBE, and MTU diesel engines. It offers aluminum protection, superior water pump life, and is approved for use in Series 2000 DDC/MTU and Series 4000 MTU/DDC diesel engines.

  • Plus Marine is a 30% concentration of antifreeze inhibitors providing limited freeze protection, to 20° F. It contains a new formulation that uses a chemistry totally eliminating the need for traditional SCAs. This coolant is a low-silicate, non-phosphate formulation that eliminates inhibitor dropout, scale deposits, and gel problems.

These coolants are available through the DDC distributor network in bulk, 55-gallon drums, five-gallon pails, and one-gallon containers.
