Hino Truck Sales Buck Trend, Climb in 2000

May 1, 2001 12:00 PM

In a year that saw industry truck sales (Class 3-7) drop by 9%, Hino Diesel Trucks (USA) saw significant sales growth. Hino truck sales in 2000 increased 27% over 1999 levels, and company officials expect 2001 to be another strong year with sales increasing by another 10% to 15%.

Ted J Fick, senior vice-president for Hino, said, “We were the only truck OEM to post a sales increase across their entire product line in 2000, and we're targeting another banner year in 2001 — even though the overall truck market (Class 3-7) is expected to decline by 16%. This past year, we added 20 dealers and plan to add another 10 to 15 locations in 2001.”
