K-Limited Carrier Ltd promoted John Spurling to vice-president and general manager of the company. He also will continue to oversee the Safety Department. Spurling has been with K-Limited since May 2004.

F T Silfies Inc has hired Cathy Scheller as terminal manager of its Manchester MD terminal. She has previous experience in the dry bulk industry serving with a Maryland company the past six years. Kellie Heffley has been promoted to vice-president — risk management for F T Silfies.

Oklahoma Tank Lines/United Petroleum Transports presented its 2005 Professional Driver of the Year Award to John H Williams, a driver for UPT out of the Abilene Service Center, who has accumulated nearly 2.6 million miles in his career. Other drivers in the running for this nomination were Curtis Bacon (Tulsa OK), Robert Carey (San Antonio TX), Jimmy Keck (WichitaKS), Charles Thomas (Oklahoma City, OK), Brian Rippe (Topeka KS), Michael Ledford (Oklahoma City OK), W C Mosley (Odessa TX), Kenny Williams (San Antonio TX), Lloyd Milligan (Amarillo TX), Steve Cummisky (Tulsa OK) and John Sollenberger (Tulsa OK). OTL/UPT also announced their 2005 Rookie of the Year: Kenneth Severin of Phoenix AZ.

Odyssey Logistics & Technology has named Edward M Straw chairman of the board. A retired three-star admiral, he most recently was the president of global operations for The Estee Lauder Companies.

Dupré Transport LLC has promoted Tom Voelkel to president and chief operating officer. He served most recently as executive vice-president and COO.
