Highway Transport Inc, an affiliate of Watkins Associated (WAT), named Brian Reid vice-president of logistics. He most recently was director of logistics, although he has handled sales and marketing responsibilities during his 13 years with the firm.

Quantum Equity Partners, owner of Nazareth PA-based dry bulk cement carrier F T Silfies Inc, has appointed Randy K Sheeler president and chief executive officer. Sheeler most recently served as chief operating officer of MTS Inc in Grand Rapids MI and senior vice-president of Tampa FL-based Quality Carriers.

Pete Piotrowski, national account executive for the National Truck Leasing System (NationaLease), has been named the recipient of the 2004 President's Award, which recognizes the single National Account Executive with the best system-wide sales performance during the calendar year.
