Price of diesel fuel climbs for second straight week

The average price of diesel fuel nationwide increased 2.2 cents to $2.55 a gallon, according to US Department of Energy information. This marks diesel’s second price rise in two weeks.
The increase placed diesel prices $1.952 below the same week a year earlier, when prices surged to the $4.764 record set July 14, 2008. Diesel’s price had dropped for four consecutive weeks before the upturn two weeks ago.
Prices climbed in all regions monitored by the DOE except for the Rocky Mountain area, where they fell to $2.537. The least expensive region is the Gulf Coast at $2.513; the most expensive is California at $2.763.
