Price of diesel fuel sinks
to lowest so far in 2010

The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel nationwide fell 5.2 cents to $2.781 a gallon, matching the biggest drop in six months, according to US Department of Energy information.
Truckingís main fuel has retreated 9.8 cents in the past three weeks, and the decline put it 53.5 cents higher than the same week in 2009. While that decrease is well below the 15.3-cent increase of the previous three weeks, it left the most recent price at a 2010 low.
Dieselís price has fallen in 10 of the past 13 weeks, though the price is just 2.7 cents below the start of that cycle, when it averaged $2.808 a gallon November 2.
New England is the only region with an average price above $3 at $3.017. The Midwest was the least expensive area at $2.731.
