PHMSA schedules public meeting on special permits

Feb 2, 2012 3:12 PM

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) will hold a public meeting February 29 to discuss the agency’s special permit process. The meeting will focus on determining an applicant’s minimum level of fitness.

PHMSA is considering revising the fitness determination criteria to streamline the application process while maintaining the focus on safety. Specifically, PHMSA seeks comments on use of the Department of Transportation’s (DOT’s) Hazmat Intelligence Portal data, the potential use of alternative sources of fitness data, and other information that should be considered during the fitness review process.

Set for 1 pm February 29, the meeting will be held at the DOT Headquarters, West Building, 1200 New Jersey Ave SE, Washington DC. Those wishing to attend should contact: approvals@dot.gov.
