Flint Hills opens central Texas fuel terminal

Flint Hills Resources has opened a new fuel terminal in Mustang Ridge TX to serve central Texas customers.

“This new terminal, which began operating last month, allows us and our customers to more efficiently serve the central Texas corridor,” said Jeff Ramsey, senior vice-president. “The terminal complements our capabilities in this area and is sited near the new Texas Highway 130, which is nearing completion.”

The Caldwell County terminal offers easy access from the intersection of Highways 183 and 21. With the addition of this new terminal, motor fuel storage capacity in the immediate Central Texas area has increased 47%. The terminal has a four-bay truck-loading facility, including one for ethanol off-loading, and its footprint covers less than 15 acres.

The company now distributes fuels via Texas terminals in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Mustang Ridge, Bastrop, Austin, Fort Worth, and Waco.

A privately held company based in Wichita KS, Flint Hills has been providing fuels to central Texas since 1981 from its refining complex in Corpus Christi.

In 2006, the company added to its Texas terminal infrastructure by building a jet fuel terminal in Bastrop County, near Highways 21 and 71. This jet fuel terminal allowed FHR to increase gasoline and diesel storage available at its Austin terminal.
