Diesel fuel’s price declines to its lowest in 10 weeks

The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel nationwide fell for a fourth straight week, dropping 3.4 cents to $2.946 a gallon, its lowest price in 10 weeks, according to US Department of Energy information.
Diesel’s downturn left it 44.8 cents more expensive than the same week in 2009. Trucking’s main fuel has fallen 18.1 cents in the past four weeks after gaining 37.1 cents in the three months ending in mid-May.
The price is the lowest since its national average was $2.939 a gallon March 29 when it slipped 0.7 cent, its only decrease in 12 weeks of increases.
All regions reported lower prices, led by a 4.1-cent decrease to $3.02 in the Rocky Mountain area. The Central Atlantic region remained the most expensive at $3.09, after dropping 3.1 cents. The cheapest diesel was on the Gulf Coast at $2.899.
