CARB low-carbon plan
receives opposition

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) continues to receive opposition against its proposed low-carbon fuel standard.
According to information from the Illinois Corn Marketing Board (ICMB), the groups opposing the standard argue it will work against the federal government's goal of achieving energy independence through development of renewable fuels, particularly ethanol, be ineffective in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and will penalize new technologies.
The Ag Biomass Council Inc, one of the groups opposing the standard, is asking for an additional two years to conduct an analysis of the indirect land use changes.
The group also argues that the analysis conducted by the CARB staff is deficient, according to the ICMB information. ICMB is part of the Illinois Corn Growers Association.
