Price of diesel fuel declines
for first time in six weeks

The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel nationwide dropped for the first time in six weeks, dipping 0.7 cents to $2.939 a gallon, according to US Department of Energy information.
Trucking’s main fuel had climbed 19.8 cents in the previous five weeks before the recent downturn, which left it 71.8 cents higher than the same week in 2009.
The prior week’s $2.946 price was the highest since Nov 3, 2008, when diesel was $3.088 a gallon.
The Gulf Coast had the least expensive diesel at $2.899 per gallon, while the Central Atlantic region had the costliest at $3.075 per gallon.
