Roadranger lubricants receiveSAE's environmental award

Jun 1, 2009 12:00 PM

Roadranger lubricants have received the E2T Environmental Excellence in Transportation Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) for significant innovations in reducing the environmental impact caused by the transportation industry. The award was presented at the recent SAE 2009 World Congress in Detroit MI.

Donna Mosher, lubricant engineering specialist for Eaton Corporation's Truck Group, said Roadranger lubricants have brought about waste oil reductions due to drain intervals that may be extended for up to seven times longer than those for mineral-based lubricants. Roadranger Synthetic FE 75W-90 axle lubricant has consistently demonstrated fuel economy improvements of roughly one percent in multiple tests. For a fleet of 1,000 trucks in a typical linehaul application, this savings can add up to a fiscal savings of more than $400,000 per year.

Roadranger-approved synthetics are required in Eaton's Fuller transmissions and Dana's Spicer axles in order to qualify for extended warranty coverage and up to 500,000-mile initial drain approvals. The lubricants meet and exceed transmission specification, Eaton PS164 REV7; and axle specification, Dana SHAES 256 REV C.
