DPF Soot Sensor helps reduce emissions

Jul 1, 2009 12:00 PM

GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies announces the ACCUSOLVE Advanced Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Soot Sensor, the first in a new family of sensors that enables reduced emissions and improved efficiency of internal combustion engines and aftertreatment systems.

ACCUSOLVE provides real-time soot loading data and is designed to meet the harsh environment and life requirements of on-road, off-road, and industrial heavy-duty diesel applications. Leveraging proprietary technology from GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies, this high-accuracy soot sensor improves diesel fuel economy and meets performance requirements of heavy-duty and automotive diesel engines.

Meeting the particulate matter regulations, such as the United States Tier 4 emissions regulation, cost-effectively requires the ability to measure DPF loading with high accuracy. The DPF Soot Sensor uses radio frequency technology from GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies to achieve much more accurate measurement of DPF soot loadings compared with conventional differential pressure sensors. The DPF Soot Sensor enables optimization and extension of the DPF regeneration cycle and results in improved fuel economy, reduced thermal history, and improved filter life. Benefits also include extended DPF service intervals and reduced warranty costs.
