Sunoco Inc, Philadelphia PA, has named winners of its 2007 Carrier of the Year awards, based on a comprehensive scoring system that encompasses carrier performance in key areas such as safety, service, and customer satisfaction.

Winner as Sunoco National Carrier of the Year is Trimac Transportation (Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, Terminal). Sunoco said Trimac Transportation serves Sunoco's (Suncor) Sarnia facility. Trimac has safely handled toluene, xylene, orthoxylene, Sun 100, and Sun 150 shipments with a high level of customer satisfaction. In 2007, Trimac hauled approximately 1,000 loads for Sunoco.

In addition to naming its National Carrier of the Year, Sunoco also recognizes two other carriers for exceptional work performed at other Sunoco facilities. The additional winners are:

•Sunoco Carrier of the Year: Linden Bulk. Sunoco said Linden Bulk's Philadelphia PA terminal serves Sunoco's Frankford facility, safely handling phenol, alpha methylstyrene, acetone, toluene, and xylene shipments with a high level of customer satisfaction.

•Sunoco Carrier of the Year: Oklahoma Tank Lines/United Petroleum Transport. Sunoco said Oklahoma Tank Lines/United Petroleum Transport's terminal in Tulsa OK serves Sunoco's Tulsa facility, safely handling lubricants shipments with a high level of customer satisfaction. This is the carrier's fourth consecutive Carrier of the Year Award.

Carrier safety performances are based on accident and spill rates, as well as compliance with facility guidelines. Service performance is determined by load acceptance, on-time pick up and delivery, short lead time shipments, late estimated time of arrival notification, and excess volume coverage. Customer satisfaction evaluation criteria include customer complaint frequency, claims experience and internal customer surveys.
