PHMSA temporarily lowers annual hazmat registration fee

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) issued a Final Rule in the April 19 Federal Register temporarily adjusting the amount of the annual registration fee, to account for an unspent balance in the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Fund

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) issued a Final Rule in the April 19 Federal Register temporarily adjusting the amount of the annual registration fee, to account for an unspent balance in the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Fund.

PHMSA is lowering the fee for the 2013-2014 registration year. According to the notice, the fee for a small business or not-for-profit organization is revised to be $125 (plus a $25 processing fee), and for all other businesses the fee is $1,300 (plus a $25 processing fee).

After the 2013–2014 registration year, the registration fees will return to 2012–2013 registration year levels. The Final Rule was effective April 19, 2013.
