Bulk Tank Incorporated has expanded its line butterfly valve disc options to include AlloMaxx, an ultra-lightweight alloy disc. According to BTI officials, AlloMaxx is Food and Drug Administration (FDA) compliant for foodgrade applications and is a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel discs.

Tested to be stronger than ductile iron, the new disc reportedly is half the weight of stainless steel or ductile. The disc is used in conjunction with a stainless steel stem, but unlike other combination stem disc systems, the AlloMaxx disc maintains the flow characteristics of a one-piece disc stem. This is made possible by a direct drive system that BTI developed and uses on all of its butterfly valve lines.

“It's a game changer,” says Ron Calvird, sales manager at BTI. “Using the AlloMaxx disc in conjunction with our new BlackMaxx butterfly valve offers over a 50% savings in weight. And when the test results came back that it's stronger than ductile, we were very excited. This is the perfect disc for everything from frac sand to flour.”

The AlloMaxx disc offers a lifetime guarantee, is 100% American made and will be available on BTI's BlackMaxx, MaxxLife, and Utility butterfly valve lines.
