Bulk Tank Inc, Park Hills MO, announced the development of a new hopper tee designed for extreme wear resistance in highly abrasive situations. BTI claims the SandHog Hopper Tee, which will be available in the fourth quarter of 2011, is projected to last twice as long as conventional abrasion-resistant tees.

“The design is in response to the exploding oil and gas mining efforts which use highly abrasive frac sand,” says Dave Sisk, president of BTI. “We saw a need in the industry to develop a new concept, a tee that will hold up to the extreme abrasive characteristics of frac sand and sliding abrasive materials.”

The SandHog Hopper Tee has patented design features in conjunction with a special iron alloy that provides up to twice the wear resistance of conventional tees and results in an abrasion-resistant tee that is unlike anything on the market today.

“If sand is being unloaded, the sand accumulates in a pocket so it can wear against the sand itself,” says Sisk. “And, the special alloy that we are using to cast the tee has been used in several industries under severe abrasive conditions for years.”

The SandHog Hopper Tee will be available in a bottom drop or straight version. It is made in the United States, including all materials and labor. As with all of its products, BTI unconditionally guarantees the SandHog Hopper Tee will outperform any similar products on the market today.
