FREIGHTLINER Trucks showcased its commitment to integrated solutions during the 2014 Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS).

Themed “Evolution of Integration,” the display gave show attendees the opportunity to be immersed in an interactive experience highlighting Freightliner’s integrated solutions that lower customers’ real cost of ownership.

“Fuel efficiency, uptime, connectivity, safety and quality are what determine real cost of ownership,” said Mary Aufdemberg, director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. “But real cost of ownership is truly defined by our customers. Every business has different priorities, and we provide optimized solutions that help our customers achieve their goals.”

The focal point of the Freightliner booth is the Cascadia Evolution with a 72-inch raised roof. The Cascadia Evolution delivers an impressive performance that fulfills its promise to lower the real cost of ownership.

Natgas Cascadia

Aufdemberg also announced that Freightliner is now offering the Cascadia natural gas powered tractor with a 48-inch sleeper cab, and factory-installed compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel tanks. The Meritor WABCO OnGuard Collision Safety System also is now available on Cascadia natural gas-powered tractors spec’d with a manual transmission.

The Cascadia natural gas sleeper has a roomy and comfortable cab with driver-friendly features, as well as the latest aerodynamic elements to further enhance overall performance.

Equipped with the Cummins Westport ISX12 G heavy-duty natural gas engine, the Cascadia natural gas tractor features a variety of CNG fuel tank configurations, up to 190-diesel-gallon- equivalent (DGE) capacity with an anticipated fill-range of about 800 miles.

“As a leader in delivering natural gas-powered trucks, as well as the market leader in the Class 8 over-the-road market, we’re adding options to our natural gas product line up that our over-the-road fleet customers are requesting,” Aufdemberg said. “Having the 48-inch sleeper cab as an option on the Cascadia natural gas provides a smart option for fleet customers who want an alternative fuel solution without compromising comfort, performance and the ability to haul longer distances; while the OnGuard system contributes to the safety of their vehicles.”

Freightliner’s commitment to green technologies is part of parent company Daimler AG’s global “Shaping Future Transportation” initiative. Launched in 2007, the initiative is focused on reducing criteria pollutants, carbon dioxide and fuel consumption through the utilization of clean, efficient drive systems including clean diesel and alternative fuels. Freightliner has sold more 3,000 natgas trucks since 2008.     ♦
