Hoyer’s intermediate bulk container (IBC) fleet expanded to a total of 20,000 in March 2012. The Hamburg, Germany-based logistics group is continuing to invest in the small container sector. IBCs, whose capacity range between 500 and 1,000 liters, are particularly favored for transporting and storage of liquid foodstuffs and chemical products.
“Although standardized types make up the bulk of our fleet, it is not unusual for us to develop special IBCs for our clients, optimised for specific uses,”said Stephanie Muhs, who heads IBC logistics at Hoyer.
All of Hoyer’s IBCs are made of stainless steel. They have an advantage over plastic in that they are easier to clean after use and can be used repeatedly.
Hoyer can supply IBCs with special coatings, with heating, or as suitable for carrying dangerous goods. For liquid foodstuffs, special mixing equipment can be installed. In addition to renting IBCs, Hoyer can take over complete management of a fleet.
Modern plants with high-capacity throughput for cleaning IBCs are available throughout Germany and across Europe. A security system is in place to ensure that all Hoyer’s cleaning and checking services are carried out with great care.
