Brenner adds new FRP tanker for 98% sulfuric acid

Oct. 7, 2015

Wabash National Corp and Poly-Coat Systems announce a new Brenner brand fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) tank trailer designed to transport sulfuric acid in concentrations up to 98%.

Sulfuric acid is one of the most common corrosives, yet historically has been a difficult product to transport. Previously, FRP tank inner surfaces were only qualified to handle dilute sulfuric acid at concentrations below 93%.

The ability to transport higher concentrations of sulfuric acid in a lightweight FRP tank trailer design provides a competitive alternative to traditional stainless steel tank trailers, allowing for increased payload and an extended asset lifecycle.

The new FRP unit was developed in conjunction with Poly-Coat Systems, Inc, a leading industry provider of non-metallic vessels for corrosive products based in Liverpool TX.

Wabash National’s Brenner Tank and Poly-Coat Systems have worked together for more than 12 years to deliver FRP tank trailers to North American customers transporting bleach, hydrochloric acid, ferric chloride, oilfield chemicals, corrosive wastes, and other hazardous cargoes.

The new Brenner brand sulfuric acid FRP tank trailer will be on display at the National Tank Truck Carriers’ (NTTC) Tank Truck Week in Houston TX November 11–13. Customers are invited to stop by Wabash National’s tank trailer booth to learn how the new Brenner FRP tank trailer could benefit their operations.
