Western Iowa Energy opens new biodiesel plant

Western Iowa Energy LLC, Wall Lake IA, is expected to produce 30 million gallons of biodiesel per year at it new plant just started up, according to information from Renewable Energy Group and West Central, companies involved in the plant construction and product marketing.

The plant has the capability to use multiple feedstocks, including soybean oil and animal fats and will produce fuel grade biodiesel that meets the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) D6751 specification for biodiesel. The specifications are designed for biodiesel (B100) for use as a blend component with distillate fuels.
