The governor of California has deployed National Guard troops to oversee the security of several bridges in the state, according to news reports. Governor Gray Davis named the Golden Gate and San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridges in San Francisco, the Vincent Thomas in San Pedro, and the Coronado Bridge in San Diego as possible terrorists targets.

He made the announcement Thursday, November 1. Federal officials had warned earlier in the week that terrorists might attack West Coast bridges in the near future.
