Lane departure warning systems will be the topic of discussion when several motor carrier safety directors share their real-world experiences with the systems in a webinar March 20, according to information from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

Representatives from the American Transportation Research Institute also will participate, along with Dean Newell of Maverick Transportation and Jerry Waddell of Cargo Transporters. Both fleets have operated hundreds of the systems on their fleets, and will talk candidly about the role of them in improving safety, FMCSA said.

The March 20 webinar will be the first of several that will highlight industry experiences with on-board safety technologies. Future topics include rollover stability systems and collision warning systems.

Registration deadline is March 14. To register, send an email to [email protected] and include the words "LDWS Webinar" in the subject line. Confirmation notices will be emailed within 24 hours of registration and will contain the Web address, phone number, and other relevant information. Registrations, which will offer preference to motor carriers, will be accepted for up to 150 people. In the event that interest exceeds capacity, future sessions may be offered.
