Ventura Transfer Co (VTC) announced that construction will be complete in mid-December 2006 on 30 new rail spots for the storage of hazardous material shipped on the Union Pacific Railroad at its Carson facility in Los Angeles. This brings the total number of rail spots to 50 — all dedicated to the transloading and storage of hazardous material.

At a cost of $1 million, the facility will offer state-of-the-art security, 24-hour lighting, and an onsite emergency response team available 24 hours a day, five days a week

Customers and railroads will benefit from the greater efficiency VTC's Carson facility offers. Many customers, particularly on the Gulf Coast and in the Northeast, are finding it more economical to ship products by rail and transload materials rather than ship by truck. The Carson facility's increased capacity helps customers to minimize shipping time.
