Usher takes home ATA safety trophy

Usher Transport Inc, Louisville KY, has won the American Trucking Associations(ATA)2002 National Truck Safety Contest in the category of up to 25 million miles. Usher was judged to have the best overall safety programs and record of safety initiatives among contest entries. The company received the ATA President's Trophy at the 2002 Safety & Loss Prevention Management Council's Fall Conference in Sparks NV October 1.

Criteria for the President's Trophy include safety policy and organization, a positive vehicle and workplace safety record, safety training, employee selection and supervision,

Mike Baker, safety director for Usher Transport, was named the ATA Safety Director of the year for 2002.

In April, Baker received the National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) 2001 Safety Director of the Year award, and Usher Transport received the NTTC Outstanding Performance Trophy for its safety program. Baker also serves on the NTTC Safety Council, representing the southern district.
