Trimac Transportation Services, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and Mountain Transport Institute, Castlegar, British Columbia, Canada, have announced a Train with Trimac driver training program to enhance recruitment and retention.

The program enables men and women to upgrade their skills and start a professional driving career with Trimac.

The program includes MTI's Earning Your Wheels program, paid on-the-job coaching with a Trimac coach, and a job with Trimac upon graduation.

Also included is tuition financing program that covers up to 73 percent of tuition costs for selected students. Tuition of up to $5,000 will be refunded for student drivers that stay with Trimac for two years.

Trimac requires new drivers to complete the comprehensive Canadian Trucking Human Resource Council (CTHRC) Earning Your Wheels Program as presented by MTI. The program was developed by the CTHRC to provide a recognized professional training program for the trucking industry.

Earning Your Wheels includes two months of classroom and in-truck training prior to four weeks of supervised work experience.

Students will drive Trimac trucks during their four-week internship, hauling loads for Trimac under the close supervision of an experienced Trimac driver, trained as a coach by MTI.
