Corrections were inadvertently left out of a feature story describing upgrades made to the Transport Service Co foodgrade wash rack in Louden TN. The story ran on pages 29-31 in the September 2006 issue of Bulk Transporter.
The lead paragraph should read: "Demand for transportation of sweeteners and other foodgrade products has grown in recent years, and Transport Service Co has worked hard to meet and exceed customer needs." The second sentence in the second paragraph should have been deleted.
The last sentence in the third paragraph should read: “We are now cleaning up to 22 trailers per shift, and we have the capacity to add a third shift to meet increased demand.”
In the fourth paragraph, the last sentence erroneously referred to dry bulk shipments of sugar. The last sentence of the seventh paragraph should read that the new Sani-Matic wash unit is a replacement, not a new addition. The boilers at the wash rack are 100-horsepower units, not 15-horsepower.
Under the heading “Filter system,” the first paragraph should describe three filters. The second filter is on the supply line and is within 10 feet of the spinner. The third filter handles wash water returning to the Sani-Matic unit.
In the second paragraph of that section, the quote should read: “Our obligation to our customers is to provide absolutely clean and sanitized tanks.”
The filters are checked twice a week. The wash supervisor also uses a Lightning MVP unit to check for microbial residue in the stainless steel wash system tanks.
In the fifth paragraph from the end of the story, the first sentence should state that tank cleaners seal all tank access points once trailers are cleaned.
