A new partnership between Transcaer (Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response) and the Department of Energy’s Environmental Management Office of Transportation is designed to enhance emergency response efforts across the nation.

“By combining our efforts through this new partnership, we can increase our ability to assist communities prepare for and respond to a possible transportation incident involving hazardous and radioactive material,” said Bill Macready, Transcaer task group chairman.

The DOE and Transcaer programs assist emergency personnel by providing resources and training for potential situations. Transcaer is a voluntary, nationwide community outreach program consisting of representatives from chemical producers, distributors, carriers, first responders and government agencies. The organization is sponsored by the National Tank Truck Carriers, American Chemistry Council, Association of American Railroads, Chemical Educational Foundation, Chemtrec, and Chlorine Institute.
