The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), an education and policy organization for North American transportation intermediaries, has scheduled its 23rd annual convention and trade show for March 1-3, 2001, at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans (LA). This event will include "Transportation Intermediaries in the Internet Age: Unmasking the Future," the first Internet, e-transportation strategy, and technology symposium designed exclusively for transportation intermediaries.

The symposium will focus on enhancing intermediaries' understanding of what changes are coming and how they will impact their businesses. It will detail emerging trends in this new marketplace as well as the most efficient and profitable ways for transportation intermediaries to take advantage of these trends.

Several sessions will be dedicated to helping intermediaries understand how to use the Internet to their advantage. At the opening plenary session, Jeffery C Crowe, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Landstar System Inc, will describe running a "virtual" trucking company. Then the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business will unveil the results of a study conducted in partnership with TIA. This study focuses on transportation intermediaries vis-a-vis how the Internet affected other intermediary-related businesses, and what the future holds for them. The symposium is further broken up into workshops, plenary sessions, and educational sessions.

Phone TIA for more information at 703-329-1894 or visit its web site at www.tianet.org.
