The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) has voted overwhelmingly to return to the American Trucking Associations (ATA) fold as an affiliate member, according to information from TCA July 11.

Under the affiliation agreement, TCA will remain a separate and independent organization, and will continue to employ its own staff. TCA will pay ATA an annual advocacy fee of $100,000. In return, TCA will have one voting seat on ATA’s Executive Committee and access to other ATA resources.

TCA will also have the right to hire its own lobbyist whenever necessary. ATA’s Political Action Committee will be able to solicit those TCA members who are not also ATA members; currently, because the organizations have not been affiliated, law prohibited such solicitations.

Additionally, both organizations will work closely together to promote membership within each organization in a cooperative effort to expand both organizations’ membership. An oversight committee comprised of each organizations chairman and two members from each organization will oversee the affiliation and recommend suggestions for improvements, as necessary, to ensure its success to both groups.
