The board of Navistar International Corp has elected Daniel C Ustian president and chief executive officer, to the additional post of chairman, effective Feb 17, 2004, after the company's annual meeting. He will succeed the retiring John R Horne, who has served as chairman of the board since April 1, 1996.

Heil Trailer International has appointed Andy Fincher executive vice-president. Most recently, he served as vice-president — sales and marketing.

The Holland Group Inc has named Michael O'Connell director — truck OEM sales for Holland USA Inc. Gary J Schultz has been appointed vice-president and director — truck/bus suspension product management team for The Holland Group. O'Connell came from Volvo Trucks Canada, where he served as president. Schultz's most recent assignment was vice-president/director of truck OEM sales with Holland USA.

Midland Mfg Co has appointed Larry Gorman vice-president — engineering. Previously, he held executive engineering and product director positions at McCanna Valve, Worcester Controls, and the Industrial Vale Group at Conbraco.

Michael Lewis has been elected to First Fleet Corp's board of directors by an unanimous vote. He has served as executive vice-president since January 2002. General counsel Frederick R H Witherby Jr is retiring after 14 years with the company. He will continue to serve part-time as secretary to the board of directors, as well as advisor on counsel matters relating to lease origination.

Donn Kramer has been named director of marketing — commercial tire systems in the North American Tireunit of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Most recently, he served as director of Goodyear consumer tire marketing. Dave Beasley has been named director of sales — commercial tire systems, after briefly heading both the sales and marketing duties in the North American Tire unit's commercial segment. Dipinder “DP” Singh, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co's former director — global market intelligence and strategy, has been appointed director of global requirements planning. Goodyear has also named Robert A Novotny vice-president — global engineering and manufacturing technology. He had been director of global plant engineering and capital projects based at company headquarters in Akron OH. Novotny replaces Ernest J Rodia, who is retiring after 37 years with Goodyear.

The Caterpillar board of directors has appointed James W Owens vice-chairman and named him the next chairman and chief executive officer. He will replace Glen A Barton, who will retire Jan 31, 2004, after nearly 43 years of Caterpillar service. Owens most recently served as group president.

RouteSmart Technologies Inc has added Steve Pasquini to lead its business development initiatives. He joins the firm after five years at ESRI, where he was responsible for logistics marketing and channel partner development.
