Dana Corp's board of directors has named president and chief executive officer Michael J Burns to the additional post of chairman. He succeeds Glen H Hiner, who had served in the position since the September 2003 death of Joe Magliochetti, former Dana chairman and CEO. Hiner will continue as a director of Dana. Vicky Black has been named vice-president and general manager for the Heavy Vehicle Technologies and Systems Service Group of Dana Corp. She spent the past two years as general manager for the Commercial Vehicle Service Parts Division. Susan Herring has accepted the position of general sales manager — aftermarket for the HVTSS Group. She previously served as sales operations manager for the former Drivetrain Service Division (now HVTSS).

Jim McClelland has been appointed vice-president of original equipment (OE) sales at Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group. He had been serving as vice-president of OE sales on an interim basis since October 2003, as well as managing the controls product business team. He will continue to lead the controls group until a successor is named.

Caterpillar Group President Richard L Thompson and Donald M Ings, vice-president of Caterpillar's Building Construction Products (BCP) Division, both will retire July 1, 2004. The firm's board of directors has named Stuart L Levenick group president and Executive Office member. He is now vice-president of the firm's Asia Pacific Division. The board elected Rodney C Beeler vice-president of marketing for the Asia Pacific Division. He serves as global champion of Caterpillar's Rental Services business, as well as general manager of the company's North American Rental business. Richard P Lavin will serve as chairman of Shin Caterpillar Mitsubishi Ltd and assume oversight of operations for the Asia Pacific Division. For the past two years, he has been vice-president of the Human Services Division. Sidney C Banwart, vice-president of Caterpillar's Systems and Processes Division, will head the company's Human Services Division. Edward J Rapp, vice-president of Europe, Africa & Middle East (EAME) marketing, will become vice-president of the BCP Division. Paolo Fellin, industry manager for Caterpillar's North American Commercial Division (NACD), has been named vice-president of EAME marketing. John S Heller, director of Caterpillar's Global Information Technology Solutions group, has been named vice-president of the company's Systems and Processes Division and chief information officer.

Webb Wheel Products has promoted Duane Ricketts to vice-president of manufacturing for the Aftermarket Business Unit and David Link to vice-president of manufacturing for Webb's new high-volume OEM facility planned for completion early next year in Tell City IN. Kent Finkbiner has been promoted to vice-president and general manager of the OEM business unit in Tell City. Mike Canada has been named to the new position of president — aftermarket business unit.

XATA Corp has named Peter Thayer chief technology officer. He previously was vice-president of engineering for MobileAria, a subsidiary of Delphi Corp.

Tripmaster Corp has named David J Schnelly as Southeast Region sales manager. He previously held sales and sales management positions with Hino Diesel Trucks USA, Mitsubishi FUSO Truck of America, The Sygma Network subsidiary of SYSCO Corp, Ryder Commercial Leasing, and Kenworth of Fort Worth.

John S Magiera has joined Scopelitis, Garvin, Light & Hanson PC as a counsel in the law firm's Chicago IL office. Magiera joins the Illinois worker compensation defense team led by Scopelitis partners Jerry Cooper and Victor Shane. He previously worked for Commonwealth Edison Co in Chicago as a supervising staff attorney overseeing the worker comp program.
