Savannah Bulk Terminals LLC, which is 50% owned by SeaGate Handling Inc, has purchased a 24-acre deepwater terminal on the Savannah River in Georgia.

Savannah Bulk Terminals LLC, which is 50% owned by SeaGate Handling Inc, has purchased a 24-acre deepwater terminal on the Savannah River in Georgia. The facility, formerly Forest Commodities Corp, currently operates as a dry bulk export terminal, a liquid bulk import terminal, and deepwater berth. Improvements to the site for 2005 will include a new 25,000-square-foot bulk storage building and a new dry bulk import receiving system.

This expansion will not only enable SeaGate to receive materials more efficiently, but also expands the offerings of Savannah Bulk Terminals by opening it up to major dry bulk importers.

Dulany Industries Inc, SeaGate Handling's parent company, also has ties to sulfuric acid manufacturing and distribution; industrial cleaning and environmental services; and a commercial laboratory. Its other subsidiaries are Southern States Chemical, manufacturer and distributor of sulfuric acid; Envirovac, industrial cleaning and environmental services; and Savannah Laboratories.
