SAFETY DIRECTORS attending the National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) annual Safety Council Seminar April 13-15 in St Petersburg, Florida, were briefed on a variety of safety issues pertinent to the industry today, including training, health, and rules.

Al LaCombe of Dupre Transport Inc and NTTC Safety Council chairman for the past year served as seminar moderator. Presentations covered litigation involving employees and accidents, driver retention, Operation Respond, employee training programs, federal rules, and professional safety certification.

LaCombe received a plaque of appreciation from Ken Matlock of Boncosky Transportation Inc, incoming chairman for 1999-2000. Paul LaPoint of Fort Edward Express Co Inc will service as vice-chairman for 1999-2000.

Thomas Hosty, Transport Service Co vice-president of safety, compliance, and environmental, received the 1998 Safety Director of the Year award. Transport Service Company won the NTTC Outstanding Performance Trophy presented each year to the carrier that was judged to have the most comprehensive and productive safety program in the tank truck industry during the previous year. The award is sponsored by Heil Trailer International.
