NIYAC Corporation, the largest tank truck carrier in Japan and a long-time member of National Tank Truck Carriers Inc, has been giving special recognition to its safest drivers for over a quarter century.
This year marked the 26th time that Niyac drivers who were accident-free for 15 straight years were treated to an all-expenses-paid trip to Hawaii. Twenty-six drivers qualified for the award in 2002, and 17 drivers and their spouses participated in the six-day trip (July 4-9).
Twenty-three Niyac drivers achieved 25 consecutive years of accident-free driving and operation. They were the 12th group to qualify for a California award trip. Nineteen drivers and their spouses made the trip and spent seven days (May 21-27) touring Los Angeles and San Francisco, California.
Speaking at a banquet during each of this year's award trips, Niyac President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Horie congratulated the trip participants on their achievements and thanked them for contributions to the company's overall safety achievements. Horie also recognized the contributions of drivers' families.
“I trust this time of your extraordinary achievement has been supported by long-time care of your wife and family,” he said. “This is one reason why we are celebrating this special time with both you and your wife.
“I'm very proud of your strong safety leadership at your home terminals, and I hope that you will continue to serve as model professional hazmat drivers for all of your colleagues. Further, I hope that you will contribute your expertise to help our company achieve our terminal safety objective of 1.25 million miles of accident-free performance.”
