RSPA schedules discussion to prepare for international meeting

The Research and Special Projects Administration (RSPA) will conduct a public meeting at 9:30 am November 28 in preparation for the twentieth session of the United Nation's Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods. The UN meeting is scheduled December 5-11 in Geneva, Switzerland.

Topics to be covered include criteria for environmentally hazardous substances, intermodal requirements for the transport of solids in bulk containers, harmonized requirements for compressed gas cylinders, portable tank requirements, classification of individual substances, requirements for packaging used to transport hazardous materials, requirements for infectious substances, and hazard communication requirements. The public is invited to attend without prior notification.

The RSPA meeting will be conducted at Department of Transportation (DOT) Headquarters, Nassif Building, Room 6200-6204, 400 Seventh Street, SW, Washington DC. RSPA's site provides information regarding the subcommittee, the globally harmonized system of classification and labeling for chemicals, a summary of decisions taken at the last subcommittee session, meeting dates, and a summary of the primary topics which are to be addressed in the 2001-2002 biennium.
