The morning of May 25, more than 100 motorcycles left North Carolina for Washington DC to honor veterans and to call attention to prisoners of war and those missing in action.

Leading the caravan was a patriotically decorated Freightliner Cascadia truck, customized by employees at Freightliner's truck manufacturing plant in Cleveland NC. Dubbed the Ride of Pride, this is the sixth year of the event in which riders journey to the nation's capital over the Memorial Day weekend and return to participate in local ceremonies.

On Sunday, May 27, the group joined a procession through the capital with nearly a million motorcyclists participating in the Ride for Freedom, sponsored by Rolling Thunder, a non-profit group with 80 chapters dedicated to publicizing POW-MIA issues.

The Ride of Pride VI truck has been purchased by Schneider National Inc of Green Bay WI, which will add it to its nationwide fleet. This new truck model has a 455-horsepower Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine and variety of accessories donated by Freightliner suppliers.
