Qualcomm Inc, San Diego CA, has announced the commercial launch of FleetAdvisor, a transportation logistics management system comprised of full-function on-board computing, vehicle tracking, highly integrated back-office software and real-time wireless communications.

With the FleetAdvisor system, Qualcomm offers the applications most often demanded by private fleets including paperless driver logs, accurate state mileage reporting and improved route management. Qualcomm has integrated the FleetAdvisor system into Qualcomm's OmniTRACS and OmniExpress mobile communications systems.

Chris Wolfe, president of Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions (QWBS), said the product provides an affordable, reliable system that directly addresses the needs of private fleets with onboard computing and improved customer service enhanced with real-time, integrated wireless communications.

"This system is vastly superior to outdated methods such as cellular phones, pagers, two-way radios, and stand-alone, batch-only on-board computers/trip recorders," Wolfe said.

The FleetAdvisor system consists of Qualcomm's MVPc in-vehicle computer, OmniTRACS or OmniExpress mobile communications system, on-board software, and host-based software. The FleetAdvisor system runs on the MVPc in-vehicle computer using the Windows CE operating system.

When combined with OmniTRACS or OmniExpress, it enables private fleets to automate, integrate and improve business processes by relaying information real time through Qualcomm.
