The Propane Gas Association of New England (PGANE) Emergency Response Committee conducted its annual three-day Propane Emergencies Training Program at the Massachusetts Fire Fighting Academy in Stow MA recently.

This course is designed for experienced propane industry, fire service, and emergency response personnel who may be called upon to respond to a propane incident or emergency. The course offers specific training toward qualifying employees as an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) specialist as outlined in OSHA regulations contained in 29CFR 1910.120 (q)(5) and NFPA 472.

Days one and two involve intensive classroom training with day three involving hands-on live fire training.

This year's training used sections of the new Propane Emergencies Facilitator's Guide, which included enhanced computer graphic technology provided in part by Propane Education and Research Council (PERC) funding.

Next year's program has been set for Sept 16-18, 2003.
