An automated relining process improves efficiency and performance for Haldex Service Centers, enabling more than 10,000 relined shoes to be processed daily. A network of relining service centers serves customers nationwide.

Inspection procedures ensure that every relined shoe meets strict guidelines. When received, incoming brake shoe cores are inspected and gauged to ensure the shoe table radius meets OE specifications. Substandard shoes are those showing signs of damage, distortion, stretch, or excessive wear.

Inspected shoes are thoroughly washed before delining begins. The cleaning process removes oil and road residue, allowing for a better visual inspection. It also prepares the shoes for the actual relining process.

The first step of relining is delining the shoe. Each shoe is run through a laser-controlled automatic deliner, which removes rivets and old linings. The laser technology that the Haldex Service Centers use improves the speed and accuracy of relining. Once a shoe is delined, it is shot-blasted to prepare it for painting and relining with a specified friction material.

Each cleaned, delined, and shot-blasted shoe is coated with a protective paint. After painting, a specified friction material is securely attached and riveted to each shoe. The shoe is then inspected once more to ensure proper painting and correctly attached friction material.
