With the goal of enhancing safety for its drivers and the motoring public, Prime Inc, Springfield MO, has announced that it is making the Eaton Vorad collision avoidance system standard equipment in its fleet. Operating throughout North America, the Prime fleet includes tank trailers, reefers, and flatbeds.
The Eaton Vorad EVT-300 system uses radar transmitters at the front and sides of a tractor to alert drivers so they can take evasive action to avoid impending accidents. The system tracks up to 20 vehicles simultaneously. "Our intention with this system is quite obvious," said Robert Low, Prime Inc president. "We want to avoid accidents, injuries, and cargo claims. This technology features proven potential for protecting drivers, and that’s exciting for me."
