Two new PrePass sites on the Wyoming/Montana border came online Dec 9, 2005. These new sites are joint Montana/Wyoming ports near Sheridan WY on Interstate 90 east- and westbound.

The new sites complete the automation of the congressionally designated Camino Real Corridor, which runs from Juarez, Mexico to Coutts, Alberta, Canada.

These PrePass sites bring the nationwide total to 256. Five more sites in Montana will also come online: Westbound Fort Butte is expected to open soon, with east- and westbound sites at Haugan and Wibaux committed for future deployment.

The PrePass electronic pre-clearance system enables qualified motor carriers to comply electronically with state weight, safety, and credential requirements while traveling at normal highway speeds. Twenty-four states have deployed PrePass, and Utah is expected to deploy it at five locations during the first quarter of 2006.
