International Truck and Engine Corp, in partnership with the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) and Idealease of North America, has launched an online education and professional development program created specifically for fleet owners and managers in the private trucking industry.

A web site at www.fleetlearningcenter.com has been developed by the NPTC. International and Idealease contributed insight into the challenges faced by its customers in the private trucking sector, and will support the continued development and expansion of the program's curriculum.

The program is designed to provide skills and knowledge training to the more than 130,000 private fleets in the United States, many consisting of less than 10 trucks. Private fleets account for 82% of registered commercial vehicles and more than half of all United States vehicle miles traveled. These businesses are faced with the same challenges as larger fleets, but due to limited resources, often are unable to travel or spend time in a classroom.

The NPTC program covers topics including safety, financial management, and technology application.

Course titles include “Safety, Security, and Compliance,” “Workforce/Workplace Development,” “Equipment and Maintenance,” “Organizational/Operational Systems,” and “Fleet Finances.” Students who successfully pass a course will be awarded a certificate of completion by NPTC.
