Grease Caddy senses when to lubricate

UE Systems' Ultraprobe 201 Grease Caddy senses lubrication conditions in bearings. Users can tell when to lubricate, when not to lubricate, and when to stop lubricating.

Easily attached to most common grease guns, the portable Grease Caddy senses high-frequency emissions produced by bearings and translates them down into the audible range, where they are heard through headphones and seen as intensity increments on a meter. When applying lubrication, users can determine when a sufficient amount of lubricant has been applied, preventing overlubrication. Ultrasound is a short-wave “localized” signal that allows users to identify bearing lubrication condition with little to no interference from surrounding noises.

As lubrications levels fall, the Ultraprobe 201 Grease Caddy senses a rise in ultrasonic amplitude. Amplitude levels can be set to determine whether to lubricate or not.

Level sensor employs high-tech concepts

Intelligent Controls Inc (INCON) brings advanced magnetostrictive concepts to liquid level sensing. Designed to sense the level of a single liquid or two immiscible liquids, the new Model 1898 liquid level sensor provides accuracy, stability, resolution, and ruggedness. Combined with the Model 1872 liquid level monitor, it offers a complete system for inventory monitoring and hazard avoidance.

Power Load Monitor protects pump systems

Viking Pump's Power Load Monitor can protect any motor-driven pump and pump system from either overload or underload conditions created by overpressure, cavitation, or empty tank. Suitable for both new installations and for upgrading existing units, the Power Load Monitor helps prevent downtime and reduce maintenance costs.

By monitoring both voltage and power, the Power Load Monitor measures the normal working load, then calculates and sets an automatic shutdown point for detected power changes. The load limit margin is adjustable to prevent unintentional stoppage.

To calculate the load, the monitor uses the pump's electrical motor as a sensor, measuring pump motor input power and calculating power loss using an advanced algorithm. The Power Load Monitor can handle single- or three-phase motors up to 50 full-load amps, at voltages up to 690 VAC, 50 or 60 hertz.

Dixon Valve expands ball valve line

Dixon Valve & Coupling Co has announced a major expansion in its line of actuated ball valves. A complete range of pneumatic and electrically actuated direct-mounted brass and stainless steel ball valves is now available, in models ranging from 1/2" to 3".

Actuated valves are used to remotely control valves operating in virtually any application. Valves that are difficult to reach — or mounted in dangerous environments — can be operated remotely, either by electric voltage or pneumatic impulses. The addition of positioners and solenoid valves provides visual confirmation of the valve position, along with full control over the opening and closing of each valve. All actuation accessories are made in the United States.
