New Jersey has been awarded a $2.1 million dollar federal grant to encourage truckers to reduce pollution, according to information from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
New Jersey funding will include:
•purchase of auxiliary power units or bunk heaters.
•expansion of truck stop electrification for truck parking spaces.
•enforcement of the state’s three minute limit for engine idling.
EPA said the New Jersey grants for reducing diesel emissions complement the state's existing program, which includes a three-minute idling law and a mandatory retrofit initiative.
