New ethanol plants celebrate groundbreaking

Construction on three new ethanol plants has begun with groundbreaking ceremonies--Siouxland Ethanol LLC near Jackson NB, Central Indiana Ethanol LLC near Marion IN, and Missouri Ethanol LLC near Laddonia MO, according to information from the American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE).

When completed, Siouxland Ethanol will produce 50 million gallons of ethanol annually; Central Indiana Ethanol, 40 million gallons; and Missouri Ethanol, 45 million gallons.

The product primarily will be for gasoline blending.

Currently, 91 ethanol plants are operating across the country with a total capacity of four-billion gallons of ethanol annually. Two dozen additional ethanol facilities are under construction, ACE reported.
