Maumee Express Inc (MXI), Piscataway NJ, is purchasing selected assets of Waste Dynamics Inc and Ruffler Contracting Inc. MXI provides hazardous and nonhazardous waste transportation.
The purchase will enable MXI to expand its waste transport and environmental services operations. The agreement becomes effective April 30, 2001.
”Despite the slowing economy, we remain committed to our strategy of expanding what we offer our industrial and commercial customers,” said Ron Potter, MXI president. “Both Ruffler Contracting and Waste Dynamics have businesses that complement ours.”
MXI will continue to provide disposal services to Waste Dynamics’ New York metro area customers, which include environmental contractors, transfer station and disposal facilities (TSDFs), and disposal brokerage firms. Ruffler Contracting was already providing specialized transport equipment to MXI, including tractors, vacuum trailers, and roll-off containers.
Joe Angelone, principal at Waste Dynamics, has agreed to join MXI full time. He will manage expansion of the disposal and recycling services provided at MXI’s Material Recovery Facility in Abingdon VA. Angelone is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) and has over 18 years experience in emergency response, site remediation, transportation, and disposal. Kevin Ruffler, principal at Ruffler Contracting, has elected to pursue other interests.
As part of its ongoing expansion strategy, MXI recently broke ground on a new office, maintenance, and processing complex in Washington County VA. The site covers six and a half acres and will employ approximately 70 people. MXI is investing $1.5 million in the facility.
MXI is permitted for waste transport in 42 states, and operates out of facilities in Abingdon, Piscataway, and Fontana CA. The company has waste transfer stations at those locations. Piscataway and Fontana are dedicated to hazardous waste, while Abingdon takes hazardous and solid waste.
