The Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has announced that Minnesota border ports with Canada began June 8 testing electronic manifests through the ACE Truck Manifest System, according to a notice published in the Federal Register June 11.
The Minnesota ports include Grand Portage, Lancaster, Pinecreek, International Falls, Roseau, Baudette, and Warroad. Carriers and other eligible parties are required to transmit advance electronic cargo information to CBP through a CBP-approved electronic data interchange. CBP, in conjunction with the Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, is currently conducting testing for those program.
The remaining ports at which the mandatory use of ACE will be phased in include ports in Maine and Alaska.
